Chicago-area native Steve Milin was a life-long chain-smoker. In 2008, he took to e-cigarettes as an alternative to smoking. As a consumer, he found many flaws in the products that were on the market at that time. They were messy, a hassle to transport, and required many parts. Milin researched and perfected these small details that had troubled other avid vapers. He set out to bring a much higher-quality product to the vaping community.

On April 8, 2009, the first version of his online e-cigarette store went live. There were just four employees at the time, but that doubled by December 2009. By spring the next year, the company had doubled in both employees and square footage yet again. In May 2011, the V4L headquarters tripled in size to accommodate the rapidly growing business.

Today, V4L has the largest post- and thread- counts of any brand in the Electronic Cigarette Forum. Milin dedicates much of his time to communicating with the product manufacturer to ensure that his company continues to deliver unparalleled products. He also engages with the vaping community to develop products that they want.

V4L continues to be a family- owned and -operated business, fulfilling orders from Philadelphia to Frankfurt to Fiji.
