When I started vaping, my goal was to find something so similar to cigarettes that my habit would transfer easily from analogs to e-cigs. I wanted a cigarette that wasn’t a cigarette. So my first e-cigs were the same size and shape as analogs and even lit up at the end when I inhaled.
Imagine you are not a vaper, and haven’t the slightest idea what an ecig is. You are on a plane. You see puffs of smoke several rows away. Is someone smoking on this plane? Surely no one would do that these days. But what could it be? What is burning? You begin to worry. You look around, but don’t see any flight attendants to notify. You don’t know what to do, so you alert the people around you. They get upset, and before you know it everyone on the plane is talking, shouting, getting up in their seats and wondering what is the matter. Babies are crying and cannot be calmed down. The entire plane is in a state of panic.
If you didn’t know, today is “World No Tobacco Day”. This holiday is sponsored in part by the World Health Organization. The day highlights the health risks associated with tobacco use and advocates for effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption. The theme of this year’s campaign is “Ban tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship”. If you’re on Twitter, follow #worldnotobaccoday to see what others are saying about it.
This gem is a violet variety of quartz. Amethyst used to be as valuable as diamonds, but an extensive deposit was discovered in Brazil. Purple is traditionally the color of royalty and since the dawn of history amethyst has been used to adorn the rich and powerful monarchs and rulers.
For the past few months there’s been a lot of talk on ECF, Facebook, and the V4L Forum on the future plans of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) about ecigs. There is only speculation at this point, but there are only a few real possible outcomes:
It’s no news that quitting smoking is always in the top 10 list of new year’s resolutions. Quitting smoking is great, but what if instead of quitting, you smoke differently? Electronic cigarettes allow you to do just that. Rather than stopping that hand-to-mouth simulation that you have made a habit of, e-cigs offer a better alternative.
As I approach the two-year mark of my switch from analogs to vaping, I can’t help but notice how different the ecig world is now from what it was then. This isn’t a bad thing by any means, just somewhat shocking when you think about how far it’s progressed.
Most industries have their own special language and this jargon can take some time getting
used to. The electronic cigarette industry makes no exceptions. We have a lot of interesting terms that we use to describe products, methods, and other e-cig related information. When a person is new to vaping it can be difficult to understand all the terms. Not only that, but many of these words have abbreviations to learn as well!
