Change Can Be Good
This is a guest post written by Keyzygirl from Key West, Florida. Laid back and vaping in paradise.
I’m Not Smoking, I’m Vaping
When I started vaping, people would ask what I was smoking. When I tried to explain that it wasn’t smoke but an electronic cigarette they would chuckle or make silly comments. That made me feel funny explaining it to them. I felt like they were mocking me. But when one smoker in a group was truly interested, they listened to me and asked serious questions. When the rest of the group realized what was going on, they too would stay and talk. No more goofing around, they really wanted to know more. It was pretty amazing to see their whole attitude change!
My Husbands First Reaction
My husband Jeff used to really hate my vaping. He thought it was ridiculous and was afraid of what people would think. He would get upset when I vaped at my daughter’s soccer games. He thought the other parents would think I was doing drugs. When we had large dinner parties to go to, he would ask me to please not use my ecigs. The answer was no. I would promise to be as inconspicuous as possible but if I could not vape at all, I would rather just stay at home. I’m kind of stubborn and don’t like to be told what I can and cannot do. Jeff only gives in because he knows how I am.
A New Attitude
After a few dinner parties, Jeff’s friends started to ask him about my ecigs. Jeff eventually wanted to learn more and more. I have given him batteries, passthroughs, assorted cartos, and liquids to take to his friends at work. I like to help people get started. My once completely anti-vaping husband now carries V4L cards in his wallet to give out when people ask. He can answer questions and show people how to put everything together. He can even explain refilling and drip tips. It really makes me laugh, because he isn’t a vaper but he isn’t an anti-vaper either. It’s funny how people change.
