Four Tips for Prolonging the Life of Vaping Batteries
Vaping history really dates back much further than one might think. The popular smoking alternative has been around since the invention of the first electronic cigarette in the 1960s, but these days there are about 2.5 million people in the United States who vape. Vaping refers to the act of of “smoking” an electronic cigarette,. or vape. Vapes are battery-powered and can be recharged using a USB charger. Just like anything else that is powered by a rechargeable battery, it can run out of power, and the battery can degrade and eventually be unable to hold a charge. Here are a few tips for prolonging its life.
Use it Regularly
One way to prolong the life of vaping batteries is to use them regularly. Vapes are typically powered by lithium ion batteries, which are meant to be used daily. This is why they usually power devices like cell phones and tablets — as well as vapes. Users should try to rotate only a couple of batteries so that way each one gets regular use.
Don’t Overcharge It
It can be tempting to put a vape on a charger and leave it, but this can have a negative effect on the life of the battery and the amount of charge it will hold. Again, just like a cell phone should not be overcharged by leaving it on the charger long past the period of time it takes for the battery to charge fully (like overnight, for example), a vape should not be overcharged. This overworks the battery and makes it difficult for it to hold a good charge.
Store it Carefully
Vaping batteries should also be stored carefully, as contact with certain things can degrade it and decrease its lifespan. Batteries of any kind should never be exposed to extreme heat or sit in direct sunlight for extended periods of time. Additionally, vaping batteries should not be stored in damp or dirty places because moisture and dust can damage them.
Don’t Store Empty Batteries
If a vaper has more than a couple of batteries for his or her vape, they should be charged before storing. A battery will drain even when it isn’t in use. Batteries that go completely dead can have less of a charging capacity than it has before, so making sure that batteries are well-charged and rotated often can help prevent that and prolong the life of them.
