“Well actually no, no I can’t smell that smell. I’m not smoking, I’m vaping.”
The famous philosopher Immanuel Kant theorized that people’s knowledge of the outside world depends on how we perceive things. Back in 1760 this proposition was unheard of. Now it just makes sense (pun intended).
People have many senses. The five traditi
onally recognized ones are smell, sight, hearing, taste, and smell.
Smell as defined by Merriam-Webster is “the property of a thing that affects the olfactory organs.”
Sight is “the process, power, or function of seeing.”
Hearing is “the process, function or power of perceiving sound.”
Taste is “a sensation obtained from a substance in the mouth that is typically produced by the stimulation of the sense of taste combined with those of touch and smell.”
Touch is “a specified sensation that arises in response to stimulation of the tactile receptors.”
The general consensus among neurologists is that humans have at least five others including pain, balance, joint motion and acceleration, temperature differences, and direction.
When a smoker takes a drag from a cigarette, all five of his senses are working. He smells the burning tobacco, sees the lit end creating a cloud of smoke, hears the crackling of the cigarette burning, tastes the tobacco, and feels the cigarette in between his fingers. The process of smoking a cigarette from lighting it to extinguishing its flame. This is the hand-to-mouth simulation that is in itself habit-forming. And then there’s the nicotine.
When people absorb nicotine it acts as both a stimulant and relaxant and is the main factor in forming a dependence on cigarettes. There are many ways people can get their nicotine fixes, besides smoking. You can wear a patch, chew gum, use a nicotine inhaler or nasal spray. You can also switch to electronic cigarettes. Vapor4Life provides smokers with an alternative to smoking through e-cigs.
E-Cigs and The Five Senses
The way this device works is very similar to smoking analog (traditional) cigarettes. To use one, you simply take a long slow drag from it, inhale, and then exhale. V4L sells e-cigs with nicotine in them, so the user inhales nicotine in the same fashion as a tobacco cigarette. This fairly new invention allows the user to experience all five senses, much like when smoking. First off, she will see a light (LED) on the tip of the e-cig, she will also see the water vapor that is exhaled from her mouth. She will also feel it in her hands. V4L e-cigs feel like analog cigarettes in that they are the same width. (V4L carries sizes ranging from regular cigarette length to 120s, depending on personal preference.) The only sense the woman will not experience while using this device is smell. No odor is produced as a result of using this product. What she will experience is a very close resemblance to cigarette smoking. The key here is that same hand-to-mouth simulation that smokers get.
How They Work
Since electronic cigs do not burn, they do not create smoke, nor smell. V4L ecigs are made of just two parts – a cartomizer that houses the solution, and a battery. They work by heating a liquid solution made of flavoring and nicotine (optional). When the user sucks in and inhales, an atomizer inside the cartomizer heats up the liquid solution creating a vapor.
Making the switch to electronic cigarettes doesn’t mean you have to interrupt your habit. It is simply a different way to do it. If you’re interested in an alternative to smoking, let us help you pick out a starter kit today!
