I just got off the phone with someone from Chicago City Hall. I had called to discuss Chicago’s new e-cig ordinance on vaping inside. When I told the guy I worked for a vaping company, it took him a second to process, so I then said “e-cigarette company.” This garnered the response “oh vaaaping, ha ha”. Ok, that’s fine. I understand “vaping” isn’t a word the general public is familiar with. Now I don’t fault the gentleman working for City Hall at all. It’s not his job to know all the terminology of every industry.
CVS has made the bold move to quit selling smokes. By October, their 7,600 stores will have phased out cigarettes, cigars, and chewing tobacco. CVS says that tobacco just doesn’t belong in a pharmacy. They will lose $2 billion per year, but they think they’re making the right move.
Some ecigs come ready to use right out of the package. Some ecigs need to be filled with juice before you can use them. The advantages to filling ecigs yourself are that you can mix flavors together and save money. Here are four different cartridges for ecigs, and how to fill them.

For the longest time now V4L has exclusively used the 808 connection with all their branded products, the only exceptions being the OEM kits from a few years ago and a few mods they no longer carry. That era has reached its end though. Around June of 2013 Smilin sir announced on ECF he was working on a line of 510 personal vaporizers for V4L. While they haven’t been officially released yet, I figured it was a good time to delve into the differences between the two connections.
Today, the Chicago City Council as a whole voted on the proposed ecigarette ban. It passed 45 to 4. The four Alderman that voted against the ban were Roderick Sawyer, Ray Colon, Nicholas Sposato, and Brendan Reilly. Chicago is set to be the first major US city to ban vaping in restaurants, bars, and other indoor places. The ban will go into effect in 30 days. As soon as we get the exact wording of the ordinance and more info, we’ll share it!
Today, the Chicago City Council Joint Committee on Finance and Committee on Health and Environmental Protection passed an ordinance regulating e-cigs. The ordinance amending Chapters 4-64 and 7-32 of the Municipal Code of Chicago regulates ecigs like tobacco cigarettes on sale, distribution and use.
The Chicago City Council is meeting for a second time likely to discuss a proposed ordinance banning e-cigs wherever smoking is prohibited. The meeting is this coming Monday, January 13, at 11:30am. We are encouraging all Chicago vapers to call and email their Alderman, to let them know why they should not pass the ordinance. It would also be extremely helpful to attend the meeting and speak about your experience with e-cigarettes.
This is a guest blog post by Morandir. About November of last year the V4L forum started having a lot of loading issues (not to mention other problems). By December it became almost impossible to post from a computer due to all the lag, and it only got worse from there. On the 19th of that month though everything changed. The new head of the IT department at V4L upgraded the forum software and now it’s useable once again.
E-cigs are under attack in Chicago and Illinois! The Chicago City Council is trying to ban e-cigarettes everywhere tobacco cigarettes are banned. Please help protect your right to vape by contacting your local Alderman, and explaining how e-cigarettes have positively affected your life.
Ever put “quit smoking” on your list of New Year’s resolutions? Last year, this was the 7th most popular goal. That’s easy to believe since one out of every five Americans is a smoker. If quitting smoking is on your list, do you have a plan? Are you going to try the patch, nicotine gum, or go cold turkey?
