Sometimes, unfortunately, we aren’t always the best role models for our kids. My middle son took up smoking about a year ago. I have never been a parent that says “don’t do as I do, do as I say” because I feel that is very hypocritical. My kids also know about my “golden rule” – whoever has the gold makes the rules.

What is propylene glycol?

This is a guest post written by LadyStrick9, from Chesapeake, VA who often refers to herself as a “vapaholic”.

What is PG? According to Wikipedia, “Propylene Glycol Alginate, or PGA, is an additive used mainly as a thickening agent in certain types of food. It is made from the kelp plant or from certain kinds of algae, which is processed and transformed into a yellowish, grainy chemical powder. The powder is then added to foods that require thickening. Propylene Glycol Alginate has been used for many years as a food preservative. Many food manufacturing companies use it in the most common household food items.”

Musings from the Vaping Short Bus – Part 2

This is a guest post written by Joyce B., an emergency management professional who has been enjoying Vapor4Life products for just over a year.

Aurora

Let me say I generally despise proprietary anything.  That is why I own iNothing.  In spite of that, and in spite of the horrendous directions, I fell in love with this e-cig as soon as I saw it.  I was easily able to figure out how to assemble it, how to fill the tank, and get it working straight out of the box.  From the reed instrument-like design to the lack of an end “ash”, I found this unit to be sleek and sexy.  It is designed for stealth.

Vaping in the Great Outdoors

This is a guest post written by a fire spinner from the Midwest.

It is the New Year and time for me to plan my summer vacations. For most, this may include a trip to a national park, or a local hotel to get away from the kids. I travel out-of-state to teach workshops at fire gatherings, which are for fire dancers to learn different techniques, styles, props, and socialize. These are held in areas meant for camping, which I really enjoy. Continue reading

Unusual Vaping Terminology

Every industry has their own lingo that people use to communicate, including the electronic cigarette industry. There is a lot of jargon used by people who use personal vaporizers. Some terms are self-explanatory, such as manual, automatic, battery, center post, flavor, LED tip, throat hit, cartridgevaporjuice, and nicotine strength. Continue reading

Let’s Talk About Juice, Baby!

This is a guest post written by Clover, a college student and vapaholic from the Midwest.

Let’s Talk About Juice, Baby.

Alright, you’ve got your favorite handy-dandy V4L Diamond battery, the Slim Chargers, the Drip Tips, and all the other gadgetry. Now what? So many juice choices! Where to start? There’s USA juice, WOW juice, Premium juice, and VG juice. What does that all mean? Well different PG/VG ratios for starters, but I’m no techie. For me it’s about taste, throat hit, and vapor production. Flavor is most important to me, next being throat hit, and vapor production is least important, although I do love clouds! When I started out, I tried all the sampler packs. Pre-filled cartos are a good way to get an idea for a flavor, but the true flavor is in the juice. So when I would try a flavor I liked, I would buy the bottle. There is definitely a difference between pre-filled and filling your own with bottled juice. I highly recommend filling your own cartos with your favorite juices. Your taste buds will thank you! Continue reading

Differences Between Batches

This is a guest post written by Morandir835, a regular on V4L’s sub forum on ECF, and an e-cig enthusiast.

If you go the juice route and decide to fill carts yourself, there is one thing you’re going to notice. There is a slight variation to each batch produced. Think of juice-making in terms of producing craft brew. Each batch uses the same ingredients, but that doesn’t guarantee they’re all going to taste the same. Some people like this aspect, while others hate it. For me, this discrepancy adds to my vaping experience.
