From Smoke to Vapor (Part 1 of 2)

This is a guest post by Rantz, who writes surrounded by a cloud of vapor.

I started putting nails in my coffin when I was 14. That’s what I called the clove cigarettes I “smoked” as an affectation… long before filmmaker Kevin Smith created his iconic “NAILS” brand of smokes for his films. When friends would say “That’ll kill you!” with wide, concerned eyes, I laughed with all the arrogance of youth and said “Yep, just pounding nails in my coffin!”

Smoking on the Front Porch

This is a guest post written by LadyStrick9, from Chesapeake, VA who often refers to herself as a “vapaholic”.

Remember Sunday mornings when your kids were little? Years ago, I would sit on my front porch on Sunday mornings, watching my kids running, playing and laughing in my front yard. I love the sound of children’s laughter.

Just The Facts

This is a guest post written by Keyzygirl from Key West, Florida. Laid back and vaping in paradise.

When I was out the other day I noticed someone watching me vape. He seemed to be amazed by it. He finally came over and asked what I was smoking. I went through the spiel of how I am not smoking and no smoke is involved. I explained about ecigs and vapor and how much better I feel since I started. He seemed interested so I gave him a V4L card. His friend doubted the whole thing. While she puffed her cigarette she suggested that ecigs could be dangerous.

Vapers: Give a Hoot…Don’t Pollute

This is a guest post written by Keelalagirl, who’s vapin’ happy hangin’ with her doggie pack in Ohio.

Second-hand Smoke

When I was a smoker, nothing drove me up the wall more than someone blowing smoke in my face. I found it rather rude to say the least. Though I was a smoker myself, second-hand smoke irritated me….my eyes would burn and water, my nose would get irritated, and I’d cough and cough. I can only imagine how offensive it was for non-smokers.

Fitness Diary of a Vaper

This is a guest post written by Michelle, who loves writing, vaping, and testing new products.

Dear Diary,

I smoked for about 30 years. For almost as long as that, I have wanted to be a runner. I have always had dreams of running, and know that deep down inside me there is a runner. It’s a very strange thing to put into words, but I believe that each of us has this person we were meant to be inside of us. But, our personal circumstances have not allowed that person to come out. I am not afraid to say that I do not consider myself a person who finishes what she starts when it comes to fitness, losing weight, eating right and giving up the stinkies. If it’s uncomfortable, I want nothing to do with it. I let myself off the hook and never hold myself accountable. Continue reading

Smoking Inside Allowed Again?

In less than two weeks from now, the Springfield Illinois Legislature will make a decision on bill HB 4012. If passed, it would allow some businesses to apply for smoking licenses that would allow their patrons to smoke in their establishments. Eligible establishments include bars, casinos, adult entertainment night clubs, and any establishment hosting a convention or exposition for selling cigars, pipes, tobacco and related smoking devices and accessories.

In order to take part, businesses would be required to apply for and get a license through a local liquor control commission. It would require the establishment to let all employees know that smoking is allowed on the premises, install an air filtration system, and post a sign in a prominent place notifying the public that it has been designated as a smoking establishment.

The bill would be an amendment to the Smoke Free Illinois Act. Smoking in all indoor public places was banned in Illinois beginning January 1, 2008. State Representative Anthony DeLuca has proposed the bill after introducing a similar one last year. That one passed the committee but never made it to the floor for debate.

View the bill in its entirety here.

What do you think about this proposed legislation?

5 Things to be Grateful for this Winter

This is a guest post written by Michelle, who loves writing, vaping, and testing new products.

Winter was the worst time to be a smoker. I find myself reflecting on last year around this time, and am so grateful for being an ex-smoker! See if you can relate:

Tales of a Closet Vaper

This is a guest post written by Joyce B., an emergency management professional who has been enjoying Vapor4Life products for just over a year.

I was always a closet smoker. I never smoked in front of my parents, my children, or most of my family. Some think that’s silly and I have to admit, I do too. Since I’ve been vaping, I’ve been more acutely aware of how much cigarette smoke leaves behind, long after the smoker is finished. However, I was always one to carefully air out, and I have had nonsmoking friends tell me that they have never smelled cigarette smoke on me. Nonetheless, I’m sure the telltale remnants were there. It was just not a topic I wanted up for debate, hence, the concealment.
