So now that I found this wonderful forum after a year of Vapor4Life, you guys are going to get tired of me asking for help with stupid things. I have had battery issues for a long time. After about one month of using a new battery, I start to experience a "metallic" battery taste in my mouth. It is disgusting. I have about 20 batteries and am only currently using 3, and they are about to get kicked to the curb because they are starting and they are less than a month old. I do clean my batteries with alcohol every week so it can't be that they are dirty. It has happened to every battery that I have had, from the old ash cap that I started with, diamond and now the titans. I also wonder if it is the cartos and not the batteries. I am constantly changing the carto because I don't know which it is. I can go through 2 or more cartos a day (I use blank cool carts and fill with WOW traditional tobacco). I swear this is a sign that I just need to give it all up completely, but I SOOOO enjoy vaping (when they taste right :D )
Has this happened to anyone or am I just completely crazy?
Hey again Dawnads!! We never get tired of answering questions :D
Sadly, I cannot help with your question though. I have never experienced a metallic taste. I'm thinking it's not the battereis, but I don't really know that. I have heard some people refer to having a metallic taste, but I don't really remember what it was attributed to. I'll see if I can find where we talked about it. Brb.
Hmmm, ok. The only information I could gather is that different wattages will bring out different aspects of the same juice. That was used to explain the other metallic tastes someone was getting. Have you changed anything about your vaping habits recently that might explain the change in flavor? How old are your cartos? Normally when cartos get old you start tasting the polyfill and not anything metallic, but maybe?
Hopefully someone else can come along and help you out. I would recommend not tossing your batts, or giving up on vaping. Is that the only juice you use? Maybe your tastebuds are tired of it and ready for a change? Do you drink plenty of water? I've heard that eating some chocolate can reboot your tastebuds.
My cartos do not last even a day before I toss them because I can't figure out where this taste is coming from. So, I fill a new one and cycle through for a bit before repeating all this. I only use Trad tobacco juice, maybe my taste buds just don't like them anymore. But I can't think of anything else I would even contemplate trying. I smoked tobacco, not chocolate, pina colada, watermelon etc :P I tried No7 cause I heard that tasted the most like an analog but found it gross.
I completely understand Dawnads. Have you tried the tobacco sampler packs? There may be other toabacco flavors out there that you would enjoy. Just for a change. It might help, it might not. But it may be worth giving it a shot so you can start enjoying vaping again :D
Personally, one reason I switched to vaping is because of all the wonderful flavors offered! Now, I still haven't been brave enough to try chocolate. But my first tries were things like vanilla and cherry. I loved them both! But I always loved variety. I'd regularly carry around a pack of regular cigs, menthol and when I felt really adventurous I'd pick up a pack of cloves. Not to mention I loved smoking flavored shisha on my hookah! Smoking the same thing all the time could get boring to me at times.
I never even noticed a tobacco variety pack. I will have to check it out and see if any taste good to me. I was a marlboro lt smoker only (which is why I went with cowboy), no variety for me, I enjoyed smoking. My main reason for starting the vape experience was because my husband (non-smoker) was on my a** to switch from smoking and I enjoyed it too much. A friend had just started vaping so I thoght, what the heck, I'll give it a try. I prefer vaping to traditional analogs. I like being able to sit at my desk at work, in my house (especially in the winter) and drag away. I can't see myself vaping vanilla or cherry or anything flavored like that but maybe I'll be adventurous and try something different. It really probably is my taste buds coming back to life.
Yep, there are 2 tobacco sampler packs. I hope you find something you like! They are under Cartomizers -> Sampler Packs.
Sent from my EVO on the go :starwars:
I've never heard of batteries contributing to the taste of the vapor, since they don't ever come into contact with the juice itself (barring a leak, but even then you aren't inhaling that.) I cannot conceive of any way in which they COULD.
Therefore, I'm inclined to agree that whatever you're tasting is related to the juice, the cartos, and as you correctly noted, changes in your taste buds as they recover from analogs and you begin tasting things differently than you did before.
I highly recommend trying other juices, particularly those from the USA line in my opinion, to see if you still notice a metallic taste. If you do, then the only remaining variable is the carto. As was mentioned above, you will taste burnt polyfill if your carto has any dry spots when you puff on it. Even if you then moisten it after having done this, the burnt taste is generally permanent from that point on,and you have to toss the carto.
Can you please elaborate on whether you use prefilled or blank cartos, and whether and how you top them off / fill them?
Ms. Dawnads what Mg are you vaping at by chance?
Welcome to the forum, dawnads...and congratulations on your new vaping hobby!!! I felt the same way when I started...I "knew" I'd NEVER want ANYTHING other than a juice that tasted "exactly like my Sxxem 100s, full flavor"...silly me!!! It only took me a month or two to figure out I was wrong...when I said "I wonder if the coffee tasts good?". It wasnt long before I was vaping vanilla, and beach bum and jammin and...
