I just read in the weekly newsletter that you should let the battery run down completely (“until it is fully drained of charge”) before recharging it. This is contrary to what I’ve heard on this board.
Now what???

I tend to believe what mr Morandir has stated all along, as well as what I've read elsewhere...don't run our batts down to blink!Simple Guidelines to Prolong Lithium-ion Batteries
Do not discharge Li-ion too low; charge more often.

All of them say NOT to do that...

Me too! I've read several of Mr Morandir's posts that say something like; "avoid deep cycling batteries at all costs..." I try to do just that. Maybe just an "oopsie" in the newsletter?

Yep, I'm guessing an oopsie!

I agree, I was a little surprised to read that in the newsletter, in that it is contradictory to my understanding of Mr Morandir's findings regarding Deep Cycling of batteries (discharging until they blink, rather than catching them when vapor production begins to fall off).
Here's the post thanks to Ms LS9's handy list:

OOps Holly, I posted a thread too quick. Wish I would have seen yours!
I, too, think Morandir's wisdom trumps V4L staff's. Don't they read this stuff?
Can I say no comment Ms. Holly?
Honestly guys, not sure who wrote it in the newsletter, but has to be a typo. Deep cycling is the exact opposite of what is best for a battery. Not only have my personal tests proved it, but so has many others done dealing with lithium based batts.
