Long term affects of USB and Old School Wall Adapter....

On the manual versions of the king diamond and stealth batts. This test has been on going for a bit, used two xl's for it. One was a non-VT KD, the other a VT stealth. They were never deep cycled, but as stated were used only with the old school wall charger and the usb charger. Only wow cartos were used with these. Here's some results with using on the slim line- Slim line/charging cycles info

VT Stealth XL manual with USB charger-

Average off load starting voltage was 4.28v

    First use on load voltage-

    XL- 4.19 (at start), 4.19 (9min), 4.18 (18min), 4.17 (27min), 4.15 (36min), 4.14 (45min), 4.13 (54min), 4.12 (63min), 4.11 (72min), 4.10 (81min), 4.08 (90min), 4.06 (99min), 4.05 (108min), 4.03 (117min), 4.02 (126min), 4.01 (135min), 4.0 (144min), 4.0 (153min), 3.99 (162min), 3.98 (171min), 3.96 (180min), 3.94 (189min), 3.93 (198min), 3.92 (207min), 3.91 (216min), 3.89 (225min), 3.88 (234min), 3.86 (243min), 3.85 (252min), 3.84 (261min), 3.83 (270min), 3.81 (279min), 3.76v (288min), after another 3 minutes stopped.

After 122 charges saw a significant drop off in run time, at charge 125 did a full voltage panel again-

    XL- 4.19 (at start), 4.17 (9min), 4.16 (18min), 4.14 (27min), 4.13 (36min), 4.11 (45min), 4.09 (54min), 4.07 (63min), 4.04 (72min), 4.01 (81min), 3.98 (90min), 3.96 (99min), 3.93 (108min), 3.90 (117min), 3.88 (126min), 3.86 (135min), 3.84 (144min), 3.81 (153min), 3.77 (162min), 3.73 (171min), stopped there

That's a 117 minute difference, almost a 41% drop off in run time just by using the USB charger. Having gotten as many as 438 charges from a stealth by avoiding deep cycling and only using the slim line, and as few as 378 that's not even a third of the cycles gotten under the same conditions with the slim line.

King Diamond XL with Old School Wall Adapter-

Average starting off load voltage- 4.26v

    XL- 4.19 (at start), 4.19 (9min), 4.18 (18min), 4.15 (27min), 4.14 (36min), 4.12 (45min), 4.10 (54min), 4.09 (63min), 4.07 (72min), 4.05 (81min), 4.04 (90min), 4.03 (99min), 4.02 (108min), 4.01 (117min), 4.0 (126min), 4.0 (135min), 3.99 (144min), 3.98 (153min), 3.97 (162min), 3.96 (171min), 3.94 (180min), 3.92 (189min), 3.91 (198min), 3.91 (207min), 3.89 (216min), 3.87 (225min), 3.86 (234min), 3.85 (243min), 3.84 (252min), 3.83 (261min), 3.81 (270min), 3.72 (279min), and stopped.

After 188 charges noticed it's a drop off in use time, waited until it's 200th to do a voltage panel-

    XL- 4.19 (at start), 4.17 (9min), 4.15 (18min), 4.13 (27min), 4.10 (36min), 4.08 (45min), 4.05 (54min), 4.03 (63min), 4.01 (72min), 3.99 (81min), 3.96 (90min), 3.94 (99min), 3.92 (108min), 3.90 (117min), 3.87 (126min), 3.85 (135min), 3.82 (144min), 3.78 (153min), 3.73 (162min), stopped there.

Again 117 minute difference, a 42% drop off from previous, though at least it was 66 more charges than that of the USB before drop off. It's still just under half of the minimum number of charges I've gotten from avoiding deep cycling and using the slim line....

    Hope this helps

Just not going to work us vacation enough for me these days. It's more of a pain to leave. Cleaning, packing, finding someone to watch the critters....

OK, let me see if I can summarize it.
    1. Slim Line provides a better (more starting volts) charge
    2. Slim line may extend battery life thus enabling more charges before battery needs to hit the recycle pile
    3. Avoiding deep cycling may xtend battery life.

Question - when the light flashes on the titans, diamonds, or egos.... are we already into deep cycling or is that the deep cycling warning? The diamonds and titans are so good that even the last puff before the flashing is still pretty good. Usually I am so deep in thought on what I am doing that I don't even realize it is flashing.

Once it flashes Ms. Bjfgator you've officially deep cycled it...
