They arrived this afternoon (thank you Ms. Audrey), first one off the charger was the 900mah one so will be touching up on it technical wise first. These tests will be an on-going process, each battery size (650, 900, 1100, 1300mah) will be tested with the following cartos- DC- 1.5ohm, 2.0ohm, and 2.5ohm. SC- Wow and Cool carts because I don't have enough of the single coil tank cartos left to test them all. Luckily the wow and cool carts are close enough to them that differences between them will be minute at best.
Will first get into the pv's themselves. A lot of people have asked why they got rid of the threads on the collar that the original non-vv egos had. Reason for this is simple, to prevent you using any other charge than the slim line on them. You can still use the mega cartos on them using a 510-808 and an 808-510 adapter with the DAV, but this means they no longer have to ship a slim line with every purchase. So keep in mind if you order one, you need to get a slim line charger. The look of these with a 3.5ml tank is perfect, and the cool carts and wow cartos don't look awkward at all on them either imo. To turn them on and off it uses the 5 click system. Will include the cut off time on each one as I review them but in the early tests (checked each one before charging them) it's between 10.5-13.5 seconds. To change the voltage you simply twist the dial on the bottom of the unit itself. There is a red line on it to mark what voltage you're running it at. The only marked units on the DAV itself are 3.3v, 3.8v, 4.3v, and 4.8v. The button is back lit by a green light on all four colors I have (green, blue, black, magenta) which leads me to believe that's only color it comes in. With that on to some technical info.
The 900mah DAV-
Will first touch up on the one issue this unit has. The voltage indicator dots above the dial aren't properly aligned on this unit, none of the other three have this issue, so don't think it's a wide spread. I can turn the red line past the 4.8v dot by about 1-1.5mm. It's not much but as the voltage test will show it does make a difference. Here are the voltage numbers off load with it-
Dial turned as far right as it will go- 4.82v
So on this one have to turn the dial slightly past it's mark to get the stated voltage. It's by no means a big issue. With dial based vv the numbers are more of guid, it's simply twist until you find your sweet spot with the juice/carto set up you're using.
On to the on-load test. Will be doing the 1.5ohm dc carto first, since they're the ones that ship with the tank (have a feeling most people who buy a DAV will be using tanks on them as well anyways, so...). The other cartos will follow, these tests do take some time. Cut off for this one was 11.8 seconds.
Voltage numbers at full charge with 1.5ohm dc-
Dial turned all the way to the right- 3.91v
The amp limit on the 900mah was 2.9a, so just like the omg handle and the omg vv you can't go past that limit. It will only give the maximum amount of voltage it can at 2.9a. So keep in mind with lower ohm cartos even if you set it 4.8v, it won't function at that. 3.91v on load though is higher than any other vv ego I've tested in the past, so again this is nothing to complain about.
Here are the voltage numbers after 1 hour of heavy use (think 3-4 hours of use from a normal person, already have gone through a 3.5ml tank on it)-
As the battery discharges the higher voltage will drop, but the same goes for every vv ego out there. The good news again is that a higher number than I've seen in the past with the same sized vv ego under the same conditions from a different company (3.73v being the old record recorded).
Will be running this to the blink to see what voltage numbers I get, will post those asap.
One other item to note on the DAV, the airflow. One of the biggest knocks I had on the original egos sold by Vapor4Life was the draw was tighter than my liking with anything but the mega cartos. This issue has been fixed on these. The draw is very similar to that of the king diamond and stealth (VT and non-VT) manuals.
