Vaping and Air Travel
I am really new to vaping (about 10 days), and I've asked a few posters here about their experiences with public vaping and vaping while traveling.
I following the typical TSA regs about liquids (2 30ml juices and a full tank) in the quart sized zip lock, and breezed through security without a single issue.
I sat in the terminal 3/ concourse b food court at CVG and vaped openly while reading for 40 mins without a single question or comment. I did notice a few people walk "closer", and were obviously sniffing the air, but no one said or did anything.
At the moment, I'm sitting in a common eating area at Hartsfield Jackson Intl Airport in Atlanta (concourse b). I have been vaping quasi-discreetly for the last 30 minutes, and haven't encountered a single issue! There was even a young lady (non-smoker, I couldn't smell her. Lol) sitting right beside me eating her lunch without paying me any mind at all.
Just wanted to pass along my experiences and say that vaping is becoming a better and better decision for me with every passing day!
You'e lucky sir when it came to your tank. Last year when I flew out here to chicago my tank was confiscated by the TSA agent. This year carried mine on empty and apart because of that, but they made no complaints on my two bottle of juice on my carry on. Glad you had such a great exprience. :)
TSA can be a sticky wicket. One agent (or group of agents) at airport X will let you fly with a full tank, yet when you fly back, the agents at airport Y will confiscate it. Back when I smoked cigars, I had a very nice travel humidor, complete with several vials of fluid to refill the credo (humidification device). When I flew out of BIA to MSP (just after 9/11/01) they made me check the humidor, and empty the vials. When I flew out of MSP, I switched bags, and forgot the humidor was in my now carry-on bag. When I went through security at MSP, the TSA agent called me aside and asked me if I smoked cigars. I said that I did, and he let me keep it in my carry-on, complete with very nice, very sharp cigar cutter.
When taking questionable materials with me on a flight, I print out the TSA guidelines from their website and take them with me; and I have still had TSA agents disallow me to fly with this widget or that based on their "feelings" at the time...TSA is such a joke, it maddens me every time I have to fly!
I have never not been allowed to take my vaping supplies carry on during the dozens of flights I have taken. I have only been asked not to vape on the planes themselves. I'm sorry to hear others have had worse experiences.
Vaping and Air Travel
Just as an update, I made it into Austin without a hitch.
I even did a little stealth-vape in the lav on the leg in from Atlanta without a single question asked.
I did spend about 20 mins answering questions from current smokers. They were stunned at the vape my Titan XL and tank was producing! Lol! I handed out 6 Vapor4Life cards and went merrily on my way.
FWIW, it was totally awesome vaping in the rental car, as no ashes were flying all over the inside (and me!) ;•)
