Great topic Tim! My DAV's are supposed to arrive today, and I'm sure I'd be asking that same question.
Cruel, your answer is appreciated, but leads me into more questions...
1.) So the DAV acts like a manual when it's "on". Does it use energy when "on" but not in use producing vapor?
2.) If the answer to #1 is "no", then why does it need to be turned off?
3.) I suppose this one could be more of a 2b type of question, but does it have to be turned off to charge?
4.) From some of the posts I've read, there seems to be some confusion about how the charger and the DAV "interact" while charging, as far as the state of the lights on each. From what I understand, the light on the slimline charger never goes green with the DAV. Do I understand that correctly? If not, how is it supposed to function?
