Well truth be told Ms Harmony, I usually just use the alcohol and they dry out overnight. But when I do use the hot water flush it will take a few days. Did not want the inexperienced to skip the flush out step. NYC will definitely get the new ones before that I'm sure.
Thanks for the info Rocco! I was just curious because I let my cleaned cartos dry out for a week, I know that is overkill, I just like to be on the safe side. I only use water though, never tried alcohol.
Last night I cleaned 2 tank cartos. I used alcohol. I took a shot, then boiled the cartos in water for 10 min. Rinsed, took another shot, then boiled for another 10 min. I'll give them a couple days to dry by the window.
@Otter - Here is my perspective from the far end of the spectrum...
I suffer from VVD "vigorous vaping disorder" and it can cause issues with the zeus. I have talked w/ my doctor about VVD and he responded by slapping me and then told me to stop "sucking" so much!...but...I cant help it!
No, but seriously...I have been known to take 4-5+ drags per minute which burns through juice and heats up the smileos quickly. I was very skeptical about getting the zeus because I knew it was straight 5v batt which normally is too high for my liking. Thankfully, combined with the 2.5ohm smileo, it really hasn't bothered me or been too harsh. Instead what happened was magic, the plumes of vapor you get from having the 5v blew my mind! (I could never achieve this satisfaction with any VV unit, everything was just way too warm. So the Zeus is pretty awesome for me)
My topping off guidelines for myself are as follows....As a general rule I find myself topping off the smileos every 30-45 mins. If I notice the vapor decreasing or I notice a flavor change then it's a clue to top off as well. This is definitely not the "norm" compared to most others but in my case it is because of how much I vape in that time frame. Every time I open the smileo to top off the filler is bone dry which is another indication its ready for some more juice. I usually don't count the drops I put in but rather run my juice bottle needle tip around the inside of the tube like NASCAR while slightly squeezing the bottle until the filler looks and stays damp/wet (not sopping wet). (Keep in mind I have a needle tip on all of my bottles which gives a smaller and better controlled juice flow. I would not recommend doing this with the regular bottle tips that are on most juices - you are better off counting the drops while rotating per instruction video.) I then put the cap back on and let it sit for 5 or so mins before I continue.
Also, because I suffer from VVD I always have 2 smileos going at the same time. When I feel one smileo getting a bit toasty I will take it off and let it rest while I use the other one. By rotating the smileos it will definitely save them from burning to death and increase their life span.
Probably one of the most common used phrases on this forum is "it's subjective." This is another thing that is subjective and as you start topping off you will learn and get a "feel" for when it is time to top off and develop your own system that relates to your habits.
Hopefully seeing what the affects of VVD can do to a person has given you some insights about handling topping off in your own life.

I might need to talk to my doctor...I've got a lot of the symptoms of VVD!
My diagnosis of VVD was just confirmed.
There is no cure. The only thing that can be done is continual satiation. I was told to make sure to have several high quality Vapor4Life delivery devices and an ample supply of tasty juice
Hey All....thank you for the great information here and the funny humor!!!! It is wonderful. Can you use regular alcohol intead of drinking alcohol to clean the smileos? I only have scotch and Wild Turkey in the liquor cabinet. Thanks for a wonderful forum...
It is only recommended to use an alcohol that is made to ingest. I use everclear, but heard of others using vodka. Isopropyl alcohol should only be used for cleaning your battery or charger connections.
+1 to what CrueL sir said.
Sayellowrose (guessing Ms.?) isopropyl alcohol is very harmful to your lungs. Never use it to clean cartos and be sure it has completely evaporated from your battery connections before use...
