Am I weird
I am new to vaping, only 6 weeks in, but have been lurking around a few forums, and amazed how big vaping is, but seems all people vaping want all these big mods etc
I personally can't see myself ever getting to all these mods, I got on e-cigs to give up, but if I have to constantly fill carts etc, I could see it be a big mistake, what happens when I can't be bothered to fill carts or forget to fill carts, I want e-cigs to still be convenient like when smoked, would just grab a cig, now with a e-cig, I just want to grab it and vaper, not mess around filling carts, so my question really is, is using these mods really worth the trouble? I am very happy with just a normal battery, and even though I am still trying to find flavors I like, I like the convenience of pre filled carts (even though some don't seem to last long) Am I abnormal or is there long term vapers that still just use a standard battery and carts?
Am I weird
What you've just stated is the most normal thing in the world :)
I started out exactly the same way. First a nasty disposable then prefilled carto's and stick batteries, and that's all I wanted, end of story.
I still use a Titan XL stick battery occasionally. I fill my own carto's (for me, the taste is better). Really, after a little practice (2-3 times is all it took for me), it becomes second nature. Kind of along the same lines as brushing your teeth really.
For me and many others, vaping became as much a hobby as it did an alternative to smoking. The beauty of vaping, is that it can be totally effective while remaining as simple or complicated as you want it to be. One of the things I love about Vapor4Life is their focus on simplicity :)
At any rate, you're totally normal! Congrats on the switch, and feel free to ask questions. We love those here :D
Are you weird? Not at all!
I switched to e-cigs to get off the nasties and bought an expensive kit from another company.
When I first went on a forum & read about all these different types of e-cigs and mods etc, I was amazed. "Not me", I thought; "I'm never going to get into all that stuff". I was very happy with my auto shorty stick batts and prefilled cartos. It mimicked what I was replacing admirably.
Fast forward a couple of years. Well I now have Auto DAVs + a Zeus on the way. Tanks and now Smileomizers. Getting the best vaping experience for where I am now.
You know what though, I do miss my auto shorties & neat little cartos. Perhaps that's why the bottom drawer of my desk is full of old stick batts and empty cartos. It seems to me that the further I get away from the basics, the more I miss them.
My advice to you Nailz would be this: Don't worry about what others are doing, do what you like. If it's working for you, stick with it. Although forums are great for getting support & information (+ making new online friends) , the downside is that you can start feeling you are missing out on something and getting tempted to buy stuff you don't really need. If/when you feel you want to make changes, we can help you take that step. For now, enjoy what you have!
Wow, plus one to what Katz and Ky-Rob said! Nailz, I felt exactly like you when I first started vaping! I just wanted something simple and as much like what I was used to. That worked for me for a very long time... and it was wonderful. I still from time to time grab one of my first stick batteries (auto shorty) and a cart and relive that magical experience (and it was MAGICAL. For approximately 50% of vapers, that is all they ever need. However, as has been stated, vaping becomes a hobby and a community of wonderful people sharing a common love (and common goal), so there are some of us that get heavily involved in the hobby and to us it doesn't seem like a chore (sort of like taking care of a beloved pet). The experience can be anything you want it to be.. there is no right or wrong! Also there is no pressure to ever take it up to the next level... look at the inventory at Vapor4Life and you will see the majority of it is prefilled carts and stick batteries! That is practically all they had when I first started as that is what works for a lot of people... there are just a few of us who just have the want or desire to try something new... to keep the experience fresh and exciting, so we don't mind the maintenance required to keep our hobby going.... and we can't resist talking about the experience. Long story short ~ no you aren't at all wierd... you are so very smart to give vaping another go and to do whatever works well for you. That is the beauty of it all!
Welcome to the forum and I hope you shall stick around and enjoy the great people here.... you are in great company!
Welcome to the forum Nailz (sir or Ms.?). Are you weird, no. Will you feel this way forever, odds are no. Most vapers go from only wanting prefills and small batteries to filling their own and beyond. Time will tell. :)
Maybe I will try filling or topping up some carts, as do find some of the pre-filled do not last very long at all, and just watched some youtube videos, the condom method does seem very simple and fast, and if the carts last a lot longer if filled yourself, then of course going to work out a lot cheaper, my concern would be the cleaning of carts if wanted to change flavors in it.
+1 to what everyone said. When I first started vaping I was overwhelmed with all the lingo and well pretty much everything about it. I stuck to small bats and prefills. Didn't want to change a thing. As time went by it turned more into a hobby instead of an alternative. Now I enjoy learning all the bits and pieces of vaping. Just take your time, do what you want, and most of all enjoy yourself!
I also want to +1 what everyone else said. With vaping and all of the options it can be as easy or as complicated as you want it to be...and trust me, it can get very complicated!! As for your question here, you don't have to clean if you don't want to. Many people never clean their cartos. If you want to switch flavors you could just refill an old carto with a different juice and see what the mix tastes like, you may or may not like it. Or just buy blank cartos and fill them with a different juice. The advantage to the prefilled cartos is that if you continue to fill them with the same juice then they are perfectly labeled. I'm pretty sure that Vapor4Life sells all of their flavors in prefilled cartos, but if you find one you want to try that doesn't come in prefilled, you can just buy blank cartos and fill them yourself.

Nooooo! "Friends do not let friends use the condom method". There was a thread recently, if someone knows how to add that link... I'll have a go...

I still use carts occasionally, as they are easy to transport and such. I definitely still use my Titan stick batteries, though it is usually with the slim 3.5mm tanks (they fit nicely in a case I have). I fill a couple 3.5mm tanks for the sticks and a couple 6mm for the DAV once a week and don't have to worry about it at all til next time.
Actually I find it has become a LOT more convenient than smoking was! No butts, no smell, no lighters or having to be careful my 2nd hand smoke doesn't offend anyone. Edit: Oh, and how can I forget all the ashtrays! Having to clean those, having ash particles get on stuff, the rare but inevitable burn hole on something from the ember coming loose, bleck... no way I could go back to all that mess.
In the end though, it's all about finding what works for you! That's why having all these options is totally awesome. :)
