Well today is the 1 week mark on my Vaping journey. I am in admiration of those whom I've read here, that have a year, or multiple years. At times I feel like such a newborn, dealing with the surprising changes(good & bad, some both) that have happened in less than a week!
I tried vaping off and on for a few yrs, before I got to this point, more off than on, due to lack of commitment enough to overcome smoking, and in some cases, shoddy design and production of other ecig brands.
I'm so excited!! I get up each morning happy that I don't have to run down 15 stairs to the front porch, in order to have that 1st ciggy of the day, AFTER making my coffee. But,more than that, today is the day I set, the 1 week mark, to tell a special someone who had to move 500miles away and wants me to come visit them after missing them for 2 yrs, I don't smoke anymore! Someone I sent to Vapor4Life a few yrs ago and kept at it till they were comfortable with 0 nicotine!
I've also come to look forward to reading this forum each day, whenever I have time (more time now since I don't have to leave the house to smoke!). You all give the confidence I can do this for another day, another week, month, and on.
I do have a question on a touchy nerve subject....
Would a zeus battery 2yrs old, but never used, still work?
(i'm concerned about certain issues I've read about currently going on)
Ms Ladyfriend, I know the feelings you're going through. You have conquered a very tough and nasty demon. I as well found spending time on the forum helpful and supportive and now the folks here have become an extended family of mine. I still need the support but more enjoy the good people. I'm sure if you stay awhile you will soon feel the same.
Regarding the battery, you are probably talking about an older stick like the Vapor King since the Zeus is a newly released PV. Based on the assumption that they were not touched they have probably lost their charge and dropped well below 1.5V. I do not believe the chargers that Vapor4Life sells would wake them back up and trying to recharge would be potentially hazardous. The guru will hopefully stop by to give a better explanation.
Keep up the good habit and enjoy the day.
RoccoV, actually I have the new zeus and have ordered another zeus battery too. Am considering the future, and purchasing even more hardware to put away ,just in case "life" intrudes on my plans. I found some juice that's a tiny bit past it's expriation, and in curiousity, tried it with another setup, it wasn't bad, worked just fine after more than 2yrs in a drawer.

I like insurance against the storm. Anyone who lives in cabin-fever country knows -stockpile!
Congrats on making it a whole week Ladyfriend! I am proud of you
When I started vaping I lasted a couple months before going back to cigarettes. The second time around I got hooked into the forums and found the support to be detrimental in my success. I had no support from anyone irl, not because everyone I know are jacka**'s or anything, just that I was a closet smoker so I couldn't very well share my new found experience with anyone. I owe many people on ECF for my continued success this time around and that is one main reason I'm still typing away 2 years later. To be that support for other people just starting out.
Keep it up! You will be years in before you know it!
Congrats on making it over the big hump ladyfriend2... the first week of determination is always the worst and then by the end of it, you realize how really wonderful it all is. Just keep up the good work.... and remember we are here for you if you get in a bind... we have all been there and lived the ups and downs (many more ups than downs, BTW)!! It actually becomes a lifestyle and very much a hobby.
As far as keeping a Zeus as a spare, I am fairly sure it would work after two years if not used (heck I have batteries that have been in constant use for the last year and a half and still work). The only thing I would do is take it out of the drawer every month or so and give it a quick charge to bring it back to full charge. It shouldn't lessen the life too much as they usually get more than 300 charges in constant use and I wouldn't imagine topping it off would actually constitute a charge.
Girl scout motto..... be prepared :vapor: I too still have juice slighly past the use by date!
Congrats on a week ladyfreind! The first month was the toughest for me. I'd get that random strong urge at times. But now it's easy. Been stinky free since late december 2012. As far as the putting hardware away question... I also wanted to do this. Which is the reason I bought both OMG's. Figured since you can replace the battery, I could just throw a new battery in it 2 years down the road and it would be good to go. I have grown a liking for my OMG vv though, and use it on a daily basis.
Sorry for the assumption, that always gets me in trouble. Instead of putting it away, use the two in rotation. This will give you double the lifespan. The added advantage is that you will not risk forgetting about keeping the one in storage at the recommended optimal storage charge around 3.7 V. I understand the stockpile theory but these need to be maintained properly and few have the discipline or patience to do it. Good luck whichever way you decide to go. Just keep on vapin.

Will a Zeus last for 2 years unused, possibly. Lithium batteries are a strange beast. Unlike alkalines that can last for 10 years in storage in some cases lithium based batts can't. Keeping it charged to the 3.7v for long term storage will help, but the shelf life on a lithium battery is anywhere between 3-5 years even if properly stored and never used. Why you'll never hear anyone really advise to stock up on more batteries than you'll actually use....
Oddly enough the last big scare about 4 years ago now was when the mods started to pop up. Standard sized lithium batteries (like an 18650) will never not be manufactured as long as people use laptops, battery powered tools, or hybrid vehicles.....
