Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there that have cared for their kids, rather than "babysat".
To all the MeN who got up in the middle of the night to give their child a bottle and change a diaper, though they had to go to work in the morning, instead of pushing their wife/partner out of bed, as they trotted off to a spare room to 'get some sleep cuz I gotta work".
To every Dad who went to stageplays, and songfests and Parent-Teacher conferences. Who left work, or wherever to go pick up their kid from school when he or she was sick or hurt, or just that school was out.
To all the Daddy's that answered the phone and sped away to rescue their kid , from drunken parties, bad boyfriends, jail-ending mischeviousness. Who dried tears for skinned knees, held a daughter as she cried because of meanies and broken-hearts, put their son in rehab when addiction crept into his soul, dealt with all the risky behavior teens can exhibit, and never once gave up,refused to entertain the thought of foster care, or walking away.
To every father who committed as much time, effort, consistant unfailing love and attention to their teenager, as their wife or partner did- regardless of whether that relationship existed or had broke, and proudly puffed up his chest as he wiped his eyes, while watching his offspring collect a diploma- every diploma from kindergarten to college.
To the real men who didn't shy from being real parents, and found that to be their favorite role in life-
HaPpY FaTheRs DaY, well done!
