Rut-Roh- New Chuckhole
25 days into this journey, and all the wonderful things I read about are true. Yesterday I ran into a chuckhole though. I swore I would not turn into a nanny-ninny like so many smokers who have quit, and just become obnoxious crusaders, and whiney cretins.
yesterday I was in one of my bosses' car as we drove to a job. He lit a cigarette and BaM - I got nauseous. Literally.
Through the day, from one job to the next, I eventually got over this reaction, but it stunned me that I had such a strong desire to toss my cookies!
I have many friends who smoke and am not willing to lose even one of them. Not willing to smoke again, however, nor am I willing to become that which I so despised while I smoked for 48 years.
LOL.. Ladyfriend2, that is a cross we have to bear! We now finally realize what others hated so much, but yet we totally understand why they do it and don't want to control their right to enjoy it. I just vape around them in the hopes they will become interested in the delightful smell... often it works and I have converted some. However, I will never put one down for their choices... I just try to be a good example of change!
Have fun on your journey and enjoy the moments that spell success and vaping bliss! Others will follow your lead!
Thanks so much for the encouragement, MysticOne. I tried to vape while he smoked, and it worsened the effect. I truly was afraid of the consequences if one exits their breakfast on the boss!
He's also my friend and neighbor, and has been interested in the ecig I use, watching me bring new hardware with me to work, and has voiced a desire to quit smoking when MN taxes go up $1.60 pack on July 1st; so there's hope for a remedy in this particular situation.
I like to cruise though. Carnival cruiseline, in a luantic move, has relegated the use of an ecig to smoking areas only. Now if I've had a few drinks, and this nauseous reaction happens in the evening, assumption will be I've just partied too much. Common occurance on a ship! However, if I throw up on a group of fellow cruisers in the smoking area first thing in the morning... ... ...
They'll just think I partied too much
I often go out to a smoking area to vape (for the social interaction with friends) and it doesn't bother me as long as it is outside... in a car, I think I would have the same reaction as you (hopefully not on my boss)! Strange thing is, my car is always where I smoked the heaviest and now I can't stand the smell inside a closed car. I have read the new rules about cruises, and while I think they are totally unfair, as long as I can stealth vape in my room (and public restrooms)... I think I could make it through, but it would certainly hamper my enjoyment of the event.... especially if I elected to visit the casino. I know some ships have a cigar bar, but I am not sure I would be able to take that for too long.

Surely wasn't making him feel like tossing his cookies but it was giving him a cig fit. So I guess it can go both ways sort of.
I didn't know exactly how bad cigarettes smelled until I hadn't had one for quite some time. The smell is truely potent. The stench can travel quite a distance too!
Ugh, I know how you feel Ladyfriend. My DH still smokes and I request that he not smoke on short trips, but when we make the 1-9 hour long drives to visit family I'm not that cruel. I always arrive reeking, so I make sure to bring some perfume with me although I know it doesn't do much to mask it. It's really irritating when it's cold outside and I have to endure the freezing blast from the window and the smell.
I also go out with the smokers when I vape. I love the social aspect of it and kind of miss it now that I vape. Last weekend I was at a hotel and went out with DH while he had a cigarette. Had a nice conversation with a traveling business man and I commented to DH on how nice smokers were.
I'm glad you didn't hurl on your boss :) Good luck getting him to make the switch!
