I don't know if this is covered under warranty or not, but my dual mode has found a unique way to commit suicide while in my pocket.
Here's how it went. I teach mathematics at a university and have been teaching 4 hours a day nightly (with the zeus in my pocket). Sometimes I get a little animated when I teach and also have to walk from one side of a large room to the other probably 100 times each night. Well, with the zeus in my pocket, the top managed to pop off, and by top I mean where the threaded post is attached to the cylindrical housing
But after that it still worked. I put the top back in as snugly as I could manage without using excessive means and it seemed fine. Then two days later it happened again. This time I didn't notice until I concluded the night and got to my car. However now it wouldn't activate (the green light turns on and everything, but the connection was broken I gather). I noticed a small crimp in the red wire and think it is the reason so I try playing with it, and the red wire pops off of its solder connection point.
I believe what happened was the wires (red, black) are just long enough so that the threaded post part can flop out and face 180 degrees from its usual position providing enough leverage to damage the wires with a smilomizer attached. So the wire is both damaged (crimped) and so needs replacing and the connection point ruined, though the battery seems alright.
Now I'm not sure what I can do about this short of investing in a soldering iron and playing electrical engineer. In the meantime I have purchased another zeus as I cannot go for very long without one (I was considering purchasing another one anyway, so I'll keep it regardless).
Any helpful suggestions?
