E-Cigarette Bans

The freedom of adults to choose their device and flavor of choice is under siege. Powerful lobbyists have spread misinformation and the mainstream media lacks the knowledge to accurately provide information on the vaping industry. We provide expert insights into e-cigarette bans and other threats to vaping.

Court Lifts Michigan Vape Flavor Ban

As reported by the Detroit Free Press, the Michigan ban on flavored nicotine vape juices has been at least temporarily lifted.

The Michigan flavor ban was announced on September 4, 2019 and implemented on October 4, 2019. It barred the sale of all nicotine ejuices with characterizing flavors.

Characterizing Flavor: A distinguishable taste or aroma, other than the taste or aroma of Tobacco, imparted by Tobacco, either prior to or during use of the Tobacco Product or any byproduct produced by the Tobacco Product, including, but not

    E-Juice Flavors 2019

There is a reason why we are running this feature today. Due to the teen vaping epidemic, the very real threat of an e-cig flavor ban has dangled like the Sword of Damocles over the vaping industry for several years.  First there was the SAFE Kids Act. Now Michigan has banned vape juice flavors, and the President of the United States has chimed in as well. There is no better time for vapers to reacquaint themselves with the joys of tobacco ejuice vaping.

    Vape Ban Means More Smoking

Anecdotes and gut-feelings aren’t evidence. Sometimes you need an expert to confirm what seems glaringly obvious. This is the case with the San Francisco E-Cig ban. In a city famous for humane harm reduction policies, e-Cigs have been banned but combustible cigarettes are still available.

As reported earlier this week, San Francisco’s chief economist Ted Egan told the city's board of supervisors that more people will smoke as a result of the city's vape ban. Back in May, he concluded that the city would not end up losing out economically because of this spike in cigarette sales.

    New Zealand Promotes Vaping

Another Beacon of Hope for Vapers?

The UK has long been viewed as a beacon of hope for former smokers who vape. Now we can add New Zealand to the ranks of countries that have adopted a rational and humane view of vaping.

Unlike the US, where what has been framed as a teen vaping epidemic is being used to deny e-cig access to adults, the UK's National Health Service is famous for actively promotes vaping as an alternative to cigarettes.

A NHS Resource Page, Using E-Cigarettes to Stop Smoking, adopts a stance that contrasts sharply with the tired zombie

    ACLU Blasts Random Nicotine Testing

    Fairbury, Nebraska

The entire Fairbury Public School system has fewer than 1,000 students, but they have the attention of the ACLU. In response to what is often framed as the teen vaping epidemic, the district has added nicotine to their randomly administered drug tests of students enrolled in school sponsored extracurricular activities.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports that due to their participation in extracurricular activities, 60 percent of Fairbury students are entered into the random drug testing pool. Each student has an ID number assigned and 10 percent of those numbers are chosen in a given month. This

Will San Francisco E-Cig Ban Save Vaping in US?

If you are a vaper or a smoker looking for a cigarette alternative, it is impossible to miss the ominous clouds that are gathering. As reported here last week, San Francisco has banned the sale of e-cigarettes at stores, and purchases delivered to San Francisco addresses.

San Francisco E-Cig Ban Punishes Marginalized

That the San Francisco e-cig ban punishes marginalized seemed to have no influence on the final decision. The city’s board of supervisors has chosen to betray a legacy of humane, harm reduction policies.

The city that wants facilities where doctors can supervise IV drug use will not let you buy a vape pen, or even o

San Francisco E-Cig Ban Punishes Marginalized

San Francisco will be the first American city to ban e-cigs. The board of supervisors unanimously approved the measure, and final approval should occur as soon as next week.

When passed, the ordinance will halt the sales of e-cigarettes in San Francisco. It will also block the delivery of e-cigarettes to San Francisco addresses until the FDA completes their safety review of electronic cigarettes. This blow to choice and freedom is not a distant threat. E-Cig prohibition in San Francisco is fast approaching, and would be implemented seven months after approval.

Dangers of E-Cig Marketing On Social Media

Four vape juice manufacturers were the target of FDA warning letters this week. The targets of the letter were Solace Vapor, Hype City Vapors LLC, Humble Juice Co. LLC and Artist Liquid Labs. The FDA accused the e liquid manufacturers of posting, “Content touting the flavored e-liquid products or recommending their social media followers try the products without including the required nicotine warning statement.”

The FTC also used this opportunity to once again urge influencers on social platforms to disclose when they are given free products or paid to promote an item.

How they picked out these four companies is unclear. Perhaps it was the volume of posts on their hashtags, the reach of the inf
