For people who are just getting started with electronic cigarettes the most frequently asked questions are "what hardware should I get?" and "what flavor should I buy?" There is no right or wrong answers because what works for one, may not work for another.
Questions about throat hit come up a lot. Throat hit (TH) is that pinching feeling or the hit you feel in the back of the throat while vaping. The factors that increase throat hit include higher nicotine level, more PG, and certain flavorings like menthol, peppermint, and cinnamon. The number of ohms that your carto is at and the voltage level that your personal vaporizer is running also play a role. Lower ohms and higher voltage lead to more TH. Ultimately it is the individual that must decide what is best for them. I have many friends who if they were to use 18mg of nicotine, with a relatively mild tobacco flavored juice, there is too much TH for them even at 3.2v on a 2.7ohm carto. Then there are people like myself using a harsher juice with 36mg of nicotine who still want more TH. There isn't a one-size fits all solution to the question of "what's going to give me the most throat hit?"
Here again there are many factors. One factor is the kind of airflow you are getting from the battery and carto combo. The VG content also factors in, because the more VG in a juice, the more vapor will be produced. Similar to TH the higher the voltage and lower the ohms equals more vapor. How the person vapes comes into play though. If you're someone who vapes into your lungs, you're not going to see as much vapor on the exhale as someone who vapes in the mouth (like smoking a cigar). You have to take every one of these factors into account before you can say how much vapor an individual will get from a juice.
The best way to find a juice suited to your needs is to try as many as you can. It's okay to ask others for advice on what to try, but keep in mind that taste is subjective. I will use Wowboy
as an example. This juice is truly one of a kind, and to those that love it, there is nothing that matches it. To those that hate it though, it's the complete opposite. I have never met anyone who liked or disliked this juice, because there is no middle ground. The only way to know which side you fall on is to try it.
Up next will be more hardware-driven questions.
