Nicotine salt e-liquid is the newest trend to sweep the vape industry, but are nicotine salts dangerous? E-juice with nicotine salts in and of itself is no more potentially dangerous than regular e-juice. Nonetheless, nic salts may have a negative impact on the industry as vapers seek out higher nicotine levels just as the FDA cracks down on nicotine levels in combustible cigarettes. What Is Nicotine Salt? Nicotine naturally occurs in a tobacco leaf when nicotine binds to other organic compounds. That makes it slightly different —and more pure— than regular e-juice nicotine, which is made by altering these natural compounds. Why Vapers Love Nicotine Salt Nicotine salt e-liquids have become wildly popular with vapers. They’re especially big with vapers who use pod systems and low-power vapes like the Eleaf iCare. The reason for this is that nic salt juice is known to provide a smoother draw without a painful throat hit, even when it’s being vaped at higher nicotine levels. Mr. Salt-E Liquid, for instance, is available in nicotine strengths of up to 45 mg.The Danger of Nicotine Salt
When people ask “Are nicotine salts dangerous?” they are often really asking whether nicotine salts are any less safe than regular nicotine. The danger of nicotine salt, though, is more abstract. It’s got everything to do with how people may end up viewing the vaping industry.
Some people prefer a nice, easy 5 mg nicotine salt e-juice, but many others are increasingly choosing higher and higher nicotine levels to satisfy their cravings or to get a slight nic buzz. Interestingly enough, vapers are starting to gravitate towards e-liquid with higher nicotine at the same time that the FDA has announced it aims to decrease the nicotine in analog cigarettes. Since e-cigs first starting gaining popularity, the media has pounced on most opportunities to villainize vaping. The real danger, then, lies in whether the vaping industry will be seen in a more negative light now that nicotine salts are starting to take center stage. What’s your opinion on e-juice made with nicotine salt? Let us know in the comments.
Smoking higher amounts of nicotine or using salt nics can be useful to help quit regular combustible smoking. To get you over the hump, so to speak. Then you can work on lowering levels, or switching to regular e-juice.
i agree. this is what i am doing. it makes me NOT want a cigarette, unlike my reg vape unit. Once i get rid of the tobacco, i will stop this and go back to reg vape, and start decreasing nicotene levels...so far its working..nothing else has.
Saltnics have reached Malaysian shores for a little over two months and its spreading like wildfire. Being an employee at a vapeshop, I sell saltnic eliquids and delivery systems to end users through a short survey. I ask my customers three main questions:-
1. What is your current nic consumption? Is it a 3, 6 or 12mg (6 and 12mg being the most vaped nicotine leves in Malaysia)?
2. Are you still having a hard time leaving ciggarettes behind?
3. Are you looking at Saltnic as an in betweener while you vape your normal juice or are making it your main vape?
I ask these questions to ascertain the expectancy of the user. I find that most consumers are looking for a magic pill. This is a problem as some have already dropped to levels like 3mg and feel the need to vape saltnics due to peer pressure. I guess, what I'm trying to say is that, saltnics should be marketed as an aid tool for smoking cessation and to help users go back to regular setups that keeps their nicotine consumption low. So, I am all for the saltnics to be used for people who have a problem with leaving combustible tobacco behind. But those who have managed to bring the nic levels down should have an option to vape saltnics with lower and lower nicotine levels. Hope to see this happening soon and I hope we, as vapers, continue to give ourselves a better option in life. just my two cents.
To claim nic salt juice is no more dangerous than regular juice is false. Nic salt juice is made with Benzoic acid ( a well-known human carcinogenic) see https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5342216/
E juice uses strictly ammonia to extract nic salts while nic salts uses the same method, however the add benzoic acid to make it hit smoother.
The addition of benzoic acid increase the likelihood of acquiring cancer significantly. There nic salts are more dangerous than regular e juice.
It didn't with me. I'm trying this because reg vape just can' t get me away from tobacco. Every puff is much more satisfying and smooth, than reg vape, so i am in the process of losing my cigs now. This is best thing i have tried.
